POZZOLO – BORE (tratto da)

La Val Stirone è terra ricca di fascino, leggende e misteri. Tra borghi ameni, case di pietra, resti di castelli fortezze, antichi oratori, al confine tra le province di Parma e Piacenza. In questo contesto, trova spazio maestosa e dominatrice della valle del Rivarolo-Stirone, la bella chiesa dedicata a San Maurizio nella Frazione di Pozzolo, a cavallo tra i comuni di Pellegrino (PR), Bore (PR) e Vernasca (PC).
Sulla Rocca ofiolitica di Pozzolo (dal latino pateus, pozzo piccolo) si erge appunto la sua chiesa, ed ai piedi di essa il suo piccolo borgo denominato “Villa Conti” che se opportunamente ristrutturato, diverrebbe uno dei più bei borghi medievali dell’intera zona appenninica parmense.
Il centro del piccolo paese è caratterizzato da un susseguirsi di piccoli borghi con case medievali, alcune finemente recuperate, altre in totale abbandono che ricordano un mondo antico, fatto di corti e vicoli comunicanti e tutt’intorno campi ancora coltivati e boschi, oltre a diverse cappellette votive e oratori disseminati qua e la in questo vasto territorio, circondato da monti dominati dal maestoso Carameto.
Relativamente alla Storia più recente, Pozzolo giocò un ruolo importante per la resistenza durante la seconda guerra mondiale, qui infatti si trovavano alcune delle “case amiche” che ospitavano i prigionieri ( soprattutto Inglesi ), che in fuga dal campo di prigionia CAMP 49 di Fontanellato, risalivano la Val Tolla e la Val stirone per andarsi ad arruolare con la 32°Brigata partigiana “Monte Penna”, operante nella Vicinissima Val Ceno.
